It is becoming increasingly recognized that the Common Defense does not stop or start at the borders of any one nation.
The technological complexity and associated costs of future defense capabilities mean that national military self sufficiency is becoming less sustainable and International partnerships are becoming increasingly important. Armed Forces continuing to operate side by side need to be complemented by the close cooperation of global defense industries. Coalition forces in the field must have access to the best equipment available and this must be interoperable to the greatest possible extent. Forces need to be flexible and to operate at ever shorter notice and this requires planning, training and speed of decision making. ComDef 2005 will cover these topics and others such as:-
