Mr. Ingemar Andersson is the Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President of Saab AB. Before becoming deputy CEO in 2004, Mr. Andersson has held several management positions within Saab AB including Head of Saab International, Group Senior Vice President of Saab AB and Head of the Business Management Group, President of Saab Bofors Dynamics AB and also different positions within the Bofors AB organization. Mr. Andersson graduated from the Swedish Military Academy Senior Staff Course in 1982 and is today a Major in the Armored Corps Reserve. He was the Chairman of the Association of Swedish Defense Industries 2000-2002.
Ms. G.P.W. Arts (MA) is the Defense (Materiel) Cooperation Attache at the Netherlands Embassy (June 2005). In DC she chairs the Defense MOU Attachés Group; a network of the Washington D.C. based Defense Cooperation Attachés of 21 nations with bilateral defense procurement Memoranda of Understanding with the United States. Earlier, Ms. Arts worked as the Personal Advisor of the Director of the Netherlands Defense Materiel Organization. Ms. Arts started in the Royal Netherlands Army as a project manager. After leaving the Royal Netherlands Army in 1997, Ms. Arts started working at ministerial level, firstly as Advisor Commercial and Industrial Policy (1997-1999), then as Advisor Defense Materiel Cooperation (2000-2004). Her area of responsibility was transatlantic cooperation (NATO). A lot of her efforts were focused on cooperation in the field of C4ISR, in particular Alliance Ground Surveillance and the related radar development program.
Bruce C. Bade is Director, Pacific Armaments Cooperation, in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. His Directorate supports the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics) as the Department of Defense focal point for cooperation in defense equipment acquisition with nations in Asia, the Pacific, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East. Mr. Bade is a member of the Senior Executive Service and is retired from the US Navy, where he served in Pacific Fleet destroyers and amphibious ships. He has served in his present position since 1994 and in international defense equipment-related positions on the Navy staff, in the Defense Security Assistance Agency, and in the Office of the Secretary of Defense since 1978. He holds the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Executive and has earned a MS degree from the National War College, a MA degree from the University of Southern California, and a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Jeffrey P. Bialos is Executive Director of the Program on Transatlantic Security and Industry at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. Mr. Bialos is also a partner in the national law firm of Sutherland Asbill, and Brennan and a senior advisor to JSA Partners. Prior to his current activities, Mr. Bialos served in several senior U.S. government positions. Most recently, he was Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Industrial Affairs (Sept. 1999-Jan. 2001). Mr. Bialos received his J.D. degree from the University of Chicago Law School, a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and an A.B. in history, magna cum laude, from Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Francis M. Cevasco is President of Cevasco International, LLC. Mr. Cevasco is responsible for international policy analysis and advising on the international and domestic marketing of defense and commercial products. His efforts include assisting corporate clients resolve defense acquisition program and export problems with the US and foreign governments, preparing studies about prospects for future weapon system programs, preparing opinion surveys of US and foreign government officials and industry executives, and working with industry associations and think tanks to promote constructive change in government export control and export sales institutions. Prior to this, Mr. Cevasco was Vice President of Hicks and Associates, and, earlier, Vice President of the International Planning & Analysis Center (IPAC) (1993-1996).
Pierre Chao is a Senior Fellow, International Security Programs at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Before joining CSIS, Mr. Chao was a managing director and senior aerospace/defense analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. He remains a CSFB senior advisor. Prior to joining CFSB, from 1995 to 1999 Chao was the senior aerospace/defense analyst at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. In 2000, Chao was appointed to the Presidential Commission on Offsets in International Trade. He is a guest lecturer at the National Defense University and the Defense Acquisition University. Chao earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in political science and management science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. László Deák served as Consul, Cultural and Press Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Ottawa, Canada from 2001 to 2005. Upon returning to Budapest, Mr. Deák assumed his former responsibilities at the Department for Security Policy and Non-proliferation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary. In August, 2006 he was selected to join the Political and Development Section of the Delegation of the European Commission in Washington D. C. as the first diplomat from an EU10 member state. Mr. Deák held a Fulbright Research Fellowship at the University of Georgia in 1989-90. He was appointed Graduate Teaching Assistant there from 1990, teaching courses in History of Western Thought and Civilization, and completed his Ph.D. program in 1995.
Tommy J. Dunehew, Jr., is the program manager for International C-17 Programs for the Boeing Global Mobility Systems programs in Long Beach, California. He is responsible for all aspects of winning new business for C-17 programs internationally. He develops and executes plans for aircraft deliveries, activates military bases, training, support infrastructure, and post delivery support. Prior to his current role, Dunehew served as the director of Manufacturing and executive leader of an Integrated Product Team. He holds a FAA - Airframe and Powerplant license. He is currently on the board of directors for Leadership Long Beach. He earned an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle University.
Aaron B. Fuller, III is President for Strategy and Development in the $6 billion Public Sector of Computer Sciences Corporation. He leads programs that develop and implement strategies for the growth for CSC’s Public Sector businesses in the U.S. and Canada. Focus areas include: (1) developing and implementing a public sector culture of innovation with demonstrations, prototypes, and intellectual property; (2) developing strategic initiatives for growth; (3) enrichment and innovation of business and engineering processes; (4) expansion of CSC’s legislative affairs activities; (5) expansion of Public Sector communications and branding; (6) development of High Growth Market Segments for identity management, logistics and transportation, training, command and control, health services, and public sector infrastructure; and (7) enrichment and use of advisory committees and boards for strategic impact on business growth.
James Gerow, Vice President, Swe-Dish Satellite Systems INC is responsible for introducing small aperture SHF system to the U.S. Market and manages service and support for SSSI customers. Jim provides insight on U.S. DoD communication architectures and manages product improvements as they relate to DoD and federal agency applications. Jim transferred to SSSI from Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) where he gained extensive experience in the deployment and operation of SHF communication systems. Prior to SOCEUR, Jim served as a Program Manager with the U.S. Special Operations Command and as a Project Engineer with the Naval Air Warfare Center. Jim obtained a BSEE from the University of Connecticut and has a prior military background with Naval Special Warfare.
Jeremiah Gertler is Vice President, Defense & International Affairs (Acting), Aerospace Industries Association. Mr. Gertler joined AIA in August, 2006. Working with AIA’s Defense Council, he is responsible for developing policies related to the defense budget, military aerospace, industrial base and workforce development, homeland security, and R&D. Gertler oversaw the entire defense procurement budget, missile defense, and other matters on the professional staff of the House Committee on Armed Services for five years. Subsequently, as senior fellow at the Center for Strategic & International Studies, he was principal author or co-author of major reports on Department of Defense reform and missile defense. He was graduated from Amherst College, the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University, and the United States Naval War College.
Steven C. Grundman is a Vice President and Director of Aerospace and Defense Consulting. His practice applies the firm’s strengths in antitrust economics, corporate finance, and public policy to solve the strategic and operational challenges confronting aerospace and defense companies. He is particularly focused on facilitating transatlantic business partnerships, supporting the capital markets’ assessments in the sector, and assisting companies prepare and execute strategic initiatives. Prior to joining CRA International, Mr. Grundman was Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Industrial Affairs and Installations) in the U.S. Department of Defense. During a six-year appointment at the Pentagon, Mr. Grundman directed the DoD’s industrial relations, spearheaded innovative reform initiatives, and orchestrated the DoD’s program-financial planning process.
Brigadier General (Armament) Olivier-Pierre Jacquotte is Defense Cooperation Attache, Embassy of France in Washington DC. Previously, Brigadier General Jacquotte was Deputy Director, Research and Technology for the Defense and Security Department (within the Strategy Direction of DGA). Mr. Jacquotte devoted part of his career to research and research policy, either as a scientist or as a manager. After four years as Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Jacquotte joined in 1985 the French National Aerospace Research Center (ONERA) as Head of the division in charge of Computational Mechanics methods. Mr. Jacquotte has an Engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, and a PhD in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Texas at Austin, USA.
Adrian Kendry was appointed Senior Defense Economist at NATO Headquarters in Brussels in August 2001 and is currently also holding the position of Acting Deputy Director, Defence and Security Economics Directorate, Political Affairs and Security Policy Division, NATO. He is currently responsible for managing the work and activities of the Economics Directorate as well as the organising, writing and synthesising of NATO’s analytical economic intelligence work. In addition, the economic exchanges on the financing of terrorism and insurgency fall under his responsibility. From 1996-2000, Adrian was the holder of the Admiral William Crowe Chair in the Economics of the Defense Industrial Base at the United States Naval Academy. Concurrently, he also held a Visiting Professorship in Defense Economics at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey in 1999.
Judge Gary J. Krump, VP & Director of Federal Marketing for The Rhoads Group, has unmatched expertise of the federal procurement process. Retiring as the Chairman & Chief Judge of the VA Board of Contract Appeals, he spent nearly three decades as a Federal senior procurement official, including serving as the VA’s Acting Assistant Secretary for Acquisition and Facilities and as Deputy Asst. Sec. for Acquisition & Materiel Management. For 12 years he was a member of the Procurement Executives’ Council, serving two terms as Vice-Chairman and Chair of the Executive Committee. He was a member of the President’s “Committee for Purchase from the Blind & Other Severely Disabled,” for over 11 years, Chairing the Committee for two terms.
Mr Jan-Olof Lind is Sweden´s National Armaments Director (NAD) and Deputy Director General for the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV). Before this Mr Lind was Director and Assistant Head of Department at the Ministry of Defence, Department for Military Affairs 1999-2003. Previous positions include different positions within the Ministries of Defence and Finance as well as the Swedish Export Credits Guarantee Board (EKN) and the Swedish Competition Board (SPK). He is representing Sweden in the European Defence Agency (EDA) and NATO on defence materiel and industrial issues. Mr Lind is Swedish Chairman of the bilateral defence materiel commission with the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Stockholm.
General Robert Magnus, USMC assumed his duties as Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps on 8 September 2005. General Magnus is a graduate of the University of Virginia (1969) and Strayer College (1993). His formal military education includes Naval Aviator Training, U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the National War College. General Magnus’ operational assignments include: Operations Officer, MAG-29; Commanding Officer, HMM-365; Commander, Marine Corps Air Bases Western Area; and Deputy Commander, Marine Forces Pacific. General Magnus’ staff assignments include: Chief, Logistics Readiness Center, Joint Staff; Executive Assistant to the Director of the Joint Staff; Head, Aviation Plans and Programs Branch; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Aviation; Assistant Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations; and Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources.
Beth M. McCormick, a member of the Senior Executive Service, was appointed to the position of Acting Director, Defense Technology Security Administration on August 8, 2005, having previously served as the Deputy Director. Prior to her current position, Mrs. McCormick served as the Director of Policy, U.S. Air Force International Affairs from November 2001 to January 2005. From July 1994 to October 2001, she served in several executive positions with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, including Director of International Relations and Deputy Associate Administrator for Life and Microgravity Sciences. Mrs. McCormick received her B.A. from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania in Political Science and Russian and Soviet Area Studies in 1981. She received her M.A. in Security Policy Studies from George Washington University in 1983.
Richard J. Millies, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Deputy Director, Defense Security Cooperation Agency. Prior to this, he was Director of Policy, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs. He has extensive experience working international affairs issues, particularly those associated with technology transfer, weapons sales, and political-military affairs. Much of his work experience was in the Department of the Air Force, but he has also worked for the Navy Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, and Office of Management and Budget. He has a BA from Fordham University, MS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and MBA from Southern Illinois University. Mr. Millies attended executive development programs at Harvard and M.I.T. He was also an Air Force Reserve Officer for over 20 years.
Vago Muradian is the Editor of Defense News, the world’s leading defense news weekly with correspondents in eleven countries. Before joining Defense News, Muradian was the Managing Editor of Defense Daily International and the business and international reporter for Defense Daily. Muradian joined Defense Daily from Air Force Times, the top U.S. publication covering the U.S. Air Force. He covered global operations, including Europe, Haiti, Somalia and Zaire. Before covering the Air Force, he served as Defense News’ land warfare reporter. Muradian started his career at Inside the Army.
Commodore P Murugesan assumed the duty as the Naval Attache at the Embassy of India, Washington DC on 28 Feb 05. Prior to this, he was the Principal Director of Naval Operations at Naval Headquarters, New Delhi from January 2004 to mid February 2005. From Dec 2002 to Jan 2004, then Captain Murugesan was Commanding Officer of INS Ranjit (Kashin Class Destroyer). The ship, during his command, was awarded the Chief of the Naval Staff Unit Citation for exceptional performance and also selected as the Best Ship of the Eastern Fleet for the year 2003-04. Earlier, in the rank of Commander, he received his M Phil degree in Strategic Studies from Madras University, from where he had earlier obtained his M Sc degree in Defence Studies.
Stephen J. Pimpo PMP is a Managing Director in the DoD/Navy Sector of BearingPoint’s Public Services business unit. He leads teams that provide consulting services in program and financial management, strategic planning/alignment, balanced scorecard, and human capital management. Additionally, he heads up BearingPoint’s International Programs teams providing consulting services in Security Cooperation, International Armaments Cooperation, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS). He is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Prior to joining BearingPoint, Mr. Pimpo served as a Supply Officer in the U.S. Navy and was a recipient of the Navy League’s Vice Admiral Robert F. Batchelder Award for being one of the U.S. Navy’s top Supply Corps Officers. Mr. Pimpo holds an M.S. in Business/Finance from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy.
Terry J. Pudas has been the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Acting) for Forces Transformation and Resources (FT&R), Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Office of the Secretary of Defense since October 2006. He graduated from University of Washington in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and a Master of Arts degree in Management from Webster University. He entered the Navy in 1969 and was designated a naval aviator in May 1971. He served as Air Officer on board USS MIDWAY (CV-41) deployed to the Persian Gulf and conducted operations in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Terry Pudas retired from the Navy in September, 2001 with over 32 years of service after serving as the Deputy and Executive Assistant to the President of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
Andrew Radcliffe is Counsellor Defence Equipment, British Embassy, Washington DC. Since joining the Ministry of Defence in 1979, Andrew has undertaken roles in procurement, international relations, policy & science and technology. His career has taken him to the US Navy Sea Systems Command in Washington DC (US/UK Surface Ship Torpedo Defence Joint Project): London (Commercial Manager Anglo-Italian helicopter program, EH101, and the UK’s Merlin Anti Submarine Warfare helicopter) and at the Defence Procurement Agency in Bristol (Eurofighter/Typhoon, International Relations Group & Commercial & Procurement Director): NATO (Munich) Eurofighter/Tornado management agency. He has a BA in Geography, is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply and has a Diploma in Purchasing and Supply.
Mark James Reynolds commenced duty as the Counsellor Defence Materiel in the Australian Embassy in Washington DC in January 2006. Between April 2001 and August 2004 Mark was the Director General Electronic Warfare. In August 2004 Mark was appointed Director General Electronic Systems Integration to provide the DMO with a focal point for the implementation of Network Centric Warfare. This role included a portfolio of major projects valued at approximately A$1.3b. Mark has a Diploma of Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Business and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Computing) from Charles Sturt University, and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Procurement from Deakin University.
Paul F. Roques, Jr. is the Director of Innovation for the North American Public Sector, Computer Sciences Corporation. He is responsible for focusing the development, implementation and integration of new processes and technologies into business solutions that can be made available to CSC business units serving public sector clients in the United States and Canada. He was formerly the Director, Strategic and International Operations in the Defense Mission Engineering and Integration Division, Computer Sciences Corporation where he served as the Senior Account Executive for Joint and Coalition Command and Control. Mr. Roques joined CSC in 1999 after a distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in the grade of Colonel. He finished his military service as the Senior Marine Advisor to the Chief of Naval Research. Mr. Roques has an MBA and a BA from Chapman University.
Bradford Taylor Sellers is National Security and Foreign Affairs Advisor in the Office of Senator Bob Corker, Washington DC. Amongst other things, Mr. Sellers advises the Senator on voting, public communications, and legislative strategy. He also serves as liaison between the Senator and external parties – including the Pentagon, State Department, foreign governments, corporations and constituents. From Sept. 2002 – Sept. 2006, Mr. Sellers was Chief, DSED Intelligence, Political Affairs and Security Policy (PASP) Division; Defense & Security Economics Directorate (DSED), NATO Headquarters, Brussels. From Sept 95 – Sept 02, he was at the Directorate of Intelligence, Central Intelligence Agency, Washington, DC. Mr. Sellers holds a Master of Arts (1991) and Bachelor of Arts (1988) from The University of Oklahoma., Norman, Oklamoma.
Dr. Jennifer Stewart is the Director General, Washington DC Region of the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Counsellor for Defence Procurement at the Canadian Embassy in Washington. Dr. Stewart’s office also supports the PWGSC International Cooperation Initiative, which facilitates knowledge and best practice sharing between Canada and the U.S. in the area of common services. Dr. Stewart is the current Chairman of the Foreign Procurement Group, a network of 25 countries who participate in the US Security Assistance Program. Dr. Stewart joined the Public Service in 1980. During her career, she has held various executive positions including Director, Human Resources Programs, PWGSC; Senior Program Advisor, Central Region, Department of Supply and Services (DSS); and Director of Evaluation, DSS. Dr. Stewart has a Ph.D. in English and Philosophy from McGill University.
Christopher Szymanski is Senior Legislative Assistant for Rep. Donald Manzullo of Illinois where he advises on policy related to manufacturing, trade, defense, energy, transportation, intellectual property rights, science/space, and telecommunications. Mr. Szymanski is the principle staffer for the House Manufacturing Caucus and the Congressional Export Control Working Group. Mr. Szymanski began his career in Congress in 2005 as a staffer for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business and the U.S.-China Interparliamentary Exchange, both chaired by Rep. Donald Manzullo. Mr. Szymanski was also the principal professional staffer for the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform and Oversight, chaired by Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri, where Mr. Szymanski helped develop and implement its policy and agenda.
Alfred G. Volkman is the Director, International Cooperation for the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics). He is responsible for establishing international Armaments cooperation policy, ensuring that policy is properly implemented and engaging with US allies and friends around the world to achieve closer cooperation. Mr. Volkman has a long history in international cooperation beginning in the late 1970’s when he negotiated the initial agreements with the United Kingdom that resulted in the cooperative development of the AV-8B Harrier Aircraft. In the early 1980’s he served on the NATO Air Command and Control Systems team in Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Volkman has served in a variety of international staff positions for both the Department of the Navy and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Mr. Volkman has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University and a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University.
Mr. Hans Gustaf Wessberg is Sweden’s Deputy Minister of Defense. Before becoming deputy minister in 2006, Mr. Wessberg was Director-General of the Swedish Companies Registration Office. Previous posts include Deputy Director General of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Managing Director of the Federation of Swedish Industries and Head of Information at the Swedish Defense Staff. Mr. Wessberg graduated from the University of Gothenburg with a BA in Political Science, History and Communication and holds the rank of Major in the Reserves. He is married and has three children.
David Whiteree is Chairman of IDEEA, Inc., a Virginia company founded in 1985. He is Chief Executive and Founder of the ComDef series of exhibitions and symposia. IDEEA, Inc. is a full service international business development and marketing company established in Washington DC. Mr. Whiteree is founder/publisher of “Common Defense Forum”.
Quentin Whiteree has been President and Chief Operating Officer of IDEEA, Inc. since 1 January, 1999. Prior to this, he was Vice President of the company, responsible for business focus, with an emphasis on emerging information and computer technologies. He joined IDEEA, Inc. in 1987 and has held a series of appointments within the company. He holds a joint BA honors degree in marketing from Strathclyde University, Scotland and is a past President of its Wine Appreciation Society. Mr. Whiteree is a member of the National Press Club.
Brigadier General Mirco Zuliani was appointed to the position of Defense Attache, and Defense Cooperation Attache, Embassy of Italy, on 30 August, 2006. Promoted Brigadier General in January 2003, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff within the Air Force Command. In November 2003 he was promoted to Commander of the 2nd Division, Logistics Command (Aircraft, Weapons and Avionics – Technical and Logistical Support). General Zuliani was decorated with the Gold Long Service Air Navigation Medal, Gold Service Cross, Grand Officer of Merit of the Italian Republic, “Mauriziana” Medal, NATO Medals for service on operations in the former Yugoslavia and Kosova. He holds a degree in Science of Aeronautics from the University of Naples and a degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste.
